Day's in Paradise

Well our days in paradise are about over :( We have been having such a wonderful time! Today we plan on getting as much sun as possible. Yesterday we went to the Hilton Hotel just down the road to play in their pool. They have a dolphin encounter that I was going to have Allyson participate in but at over 200.00 a person, I figured that was out of the question! We still got to see the dolphins, so that worked out just fine. The Hilton resort is HUGE. Lots of restaurants, 3 large pools and a man made beach/lagoon. One of the pools has slides that were just Allyson's size, it was so much fun for her. We spent most of our time at the beach. We rented a kayak and floated around the lagoon. We saw lots of fish, a turtle and a little Mana Ray. We had dinner at a restaurant called Roy's, which we eat at when we went to Kauai 11 years ago with Larry's mom. It was the BEST meal that I have ever had! I actually eat ribs off the bone and sushi!

The day before yesterday, we spent the whole day at the pool and beach with friends that live on the Island. It was a great day, Allyson played with their boys 3 and 6, while my girlfriend and I caught up on old and new times! We tried to go visit her yesterday, but not more than 20 minutes into the road trip Allyson got car sick again. I hope she makes it to the airport without getting sick. So I am off to get my coffee and have a little morning stroll with Allyson.

Aloha!

Sending Sunshine Greetings!

I am hearing it is very cold in your neck of the woods, Oregon and Washington peoples! I bet we missed the first snow fall at our house. Well I can't say that I am sorry to have missed it!
Well on day 3 we decided we would catch some of the sights around the Island. It takes very long to get around this Island, it is actually fairly large. We headed North as far as we could go along the coast line, along the route we watched the landscape change from desert like to lush green tropical vegetation. The road was very curvy and narrow, with lots of one lane bridges. At the end of the road was this beautiful view.

So we decided to keep the road tour going and head inland a bit, after a climb up to 1500 feet elevation, Allyson started acting like she was going to get sick, so we decided we better turn around. We headed back toward our resort and before we could make it home she got VERY SICK! Poor thing, but the very first thing she said after losing her breakfast was - CRACKERS - she was ready to eat?! So we have decided that we will not be able to make it to the volcano or do anymore site seeing, because all the roads are curvy, and I just don't want to risk her getting car sick again. Which I have to say I am not disappointed, bring on the tan time!

Last night we went to a Luau called the Rise of Kings. It was the story of the Polynesian Islands and honoring the Kings of the various islands. It was a great show. We had front row seats! Allyson feel asleep about a 1/2 hour into the show. Here are a few photos from the show.

Yes, I got on the stage with Allyson! She thought it was great to be on stage, but she was more interested in playing with the little baby that was up there! OK, so today, I have a friend that is coming to spend the day with us. She lives here and is bringing her two kids down to spend the day with us. I use to work with her about 16 years ago when I lived in Seattle! She found me on facebook and when she saw we were coming she contacted me! She is a kick in the pants, so should be much fun!

Aloha friends!

Aloha!

Aloha main landers! I thought that I would take this opportunity to sit and blog - kind of use it as my travel journal for myself and share some photos and things we are doing here. Larry and Allybug are napping right now and I don't seems to be able to fall asleep?! So yesterday we arrived after two flights. Five and 1/2 from Portland and about 35 minutes from Honolulu. We were greeted with RAIN, can you believe it! It was still warm, but RAIN! WHAT! The gal at the gate said that there was a flash flood warning out for that evening! So on to the car rental place. We got our car and headed down the road to our resort. The landscape here is very different, volcanic rock every where. Black rock surrounds you. People gather up little white rocks and spell things or make pictures with them on top of the black rock. You can see it all along the freeway.
So we arrived at the resort about 4:30ish Kona time, we were each greeted with a beautiful floral lay, a cool towel and a wonderful tropical drink (missing the booze though!)A gentlemen greeted Allyson with a basket of toys in which she could choose three items out of. She got a little beach ball, shovel and bucket and a stuffed turtle. It was so sweet!
The resort is amazing right on the beach! Our room has an ocean view and a view of the surrounding property. We had cocktails and dinner out on the terrace in between rain showers last night.

First full day started with Breakfast at the resort, which we plan on eating in the room, just haven't made it to the store yet. Once we were done with breakfast we headed out to discover our surroundings. Once we were finished with our walk we suited up and headed down to the pool and beach. The sun didn't look like it was going to come out, but YEA!! It did!! Allyson had the time of her life! She just loves to be in the pool (what kid doesn't) Larry and I had an adult beverage poolside! Best Pinacalada Ive ever had! After drinks and lunch at the pool we headed to the beach for Allyson's first swim in the ocean. She wasn't to sure at first and still is a bit hesitant, but did try to swim a little bit. She was getting VERY cranking and bossy, so we tried to get her to take a nap in one of the hammocks, but she ended up falling out of it!!! Much to my surprise she didn't cry at all! It was then we decided to head up to our room and get her to nap. She fought it, but is now snoring away! We have cocktail and appetizer hour this evening and then I am not sure what else after that, but I SOOO did not want the day to end!

Well that wraps up day 1 and 1/2! Going to do some site seeing tomorrow! Chow for now!

Trick or Treat!

What a fun night we had last night! Allyson was dressed as Hello Kitty who was dressed as a Butterfly! She looked so ADORABLE! I was worried she wasn't going to keep the costume on, but she was totally into it! She was meowing all the way down the hill - it was super cute! We started the evening off by having my mom over for dinner. We then headed down the hill to Tom and Peggy's house and hit the houses in their area. I wasn't sure how Allyson would do if she would be scared or go for it? She has been practicing her "Trick or Treat" all month. She did so great, except she would not say trick or treat to the people handing out the candy, but would say it right after knocking on the door. She did say a very big THANK YOU after getting the candy in her bucket! She was SO excited to be getting candy from everyone.
We ended the evening at Tom and Peggy's house visiting with them as well as Mary, Tony, Ella and Parks. So here are a few photos from our night!
